Connect the Printer to a computer
Connect The Printer With a Cable
You can connect your printer to a terminal or a PC using either RS232C
or USB protocols. Refer to the Label Vista application available on the
RW product CD or at www.zebra.com for
help on setting up your printer.
Cable Communications with a Computer
If you are using a USB cable to connect to a PC you may need to install
the Zebra Universal Driver available at: www.zebra.com/drivers
Zebra Setup Utilities
Install and run the Zebra setup Utility, available from Zebra.
The printer connects to the computer using a Mini USB cable that
plugs into the opening on the side of the printer under the rubber flap
Windows should recognize the printer and install drivers to communicate
with the printer.
After connecting the printer and opening the setup
Utility, you should be presented with a screen that shows the Zebra
printers available for setup.
Choose the
RW420. If not shown, then try connecting the printer again to a
different USB port on the computer. Make sure the printer is on and
charged. Choose Configure Printer connectivity to setup the connection.
You get two connection options Wireless and Bluetooth.
If you choose the
Wireless option you get the setup screen for wireless connections:
On this screen you can choose setting the static IP address or letting
the router assign it via DHCP. You can also specify the SSID and the
security settings used in your wireless network.
:
If you choose the
Bluetooth option you get the setup screen for a Bluetooth
connection:
Choose to give it
the printer a name and an authentication password since many paring
devices expect it.
This step created a set
of commands to send to the printer (different from above):
Choose send to send the
configuration commands to the printer or to a file
(printer can be offline when you do this and save the new settings to a
file)
The new settings will
be sent to the printer using the current connection method. The settings
transfer causes the printer to reboot.
The printer should be
available to pair with a
device after reboot |
