Memory Switch Settings

In the memory switch setting mode, you can set the following “memory switches (customized values),” which are software switches of this printer.

• Interface Selection
• Receipt print density
• Transmission speed for serial interface
• Automatic paper reduction
• Autocutting at roll paper cover close
• Roll paper width • Interface selection
• Power supply unit capacity
• Receipt print speed
• Error control
• Power on notice
• NV capacity (User NV memory, NV graphics memory)
• Command execution during offline

With the memory switch and R/E (receipt enhancement) function, which are software settings

Use any of the 3 methods shown in the table below to make changes; TM-L90 Utility, Software Setting Mode, or ESC/POS commands, to set memory switches and R/E functions. Memory Switch Settings - how to change.


Starting the memory switch setting mode
Follow the steps below to run this mode.

1. Install the roll paper.

2. Close all covers and the receipt unit.

3. While pressing the Feed button, turn the power on. (keep pressing the button until the printer starts printing.)

The printer starts printing the current status of the printer.

When the printer finishes printing the printer status, the following message is printed and
the Paper LED flashes. (The printer is now in the self-test wait mode.):

“Select Modes by pressing Feed button.
Continue SELF-TEST: Less than 1 second
Mode Selection : 1 second or more”
 

4. Press the Feed button. (keep pressing the button until the printer starts printing.)

The printer starts printing instructions.

5. After the printing has been completed, press the Feed button 3 times.

6. Press the Feed button again. (keep pressing the button until the printer starts printing.)

The printer starts printing instructions. Follow them.

Configuring Installed Interface

The TM-L90II has permanent interfaces. Use the memory switch settings to change the installed interface.

Serial Interface (memory switch menu)

Communication condition of serial interface


Transmission speed
• 2400 bps
• 4800 bps
• 9600 bps
• 19200 bps
• 38400 bps (initial setting)
• 57600 bps
• 115200 bps
[bps: bits per second]


Parity
• None (initial setting)
• Even
• Odd


Data bit
• 7 bits
• 8 bits (initial setting)


Flow control
• DTR/DSR (initial setting)
• XON/XOFF

Receive buffer capacity
• 4KB (initial setting)
• 45 bytes

BUSY condition
• Receive buffer full/Offline (initial setting)
• Receive buffer full

Processing when data receive error
• Prints “?” (initial setting)
• Ignored
 

Release condition of receive buffer BUSY
• Releases when the remaining receive buffer capacity becomes 256 bytes (initial setting)
• Releases when the remaining receive buffer capacity becomes 138 bytes

USB Interface (memory switch menu)


Communication condition of USB interface
• USB printer class (initial setting)
• USB vendor-defined class
 

Interface selection
• UIB
• Ethernet
• Built-in USB
• Auto* (initial setting)
*
:The interface to which data is transmitted first is selected. Once the interface is selected, the
selection is enabled until the power is turned off or the printer is reset. This setting is valid for
models with UIB and built-in USB.

USB power-saving function
• Disabled
• Enabled (initial setting)

The USB power-saving function is valid only when the USB interface communication
condition is set to the vendor-defined class and the system configuration is set so that the
USB driver can support the USB power-saving function.

Windows Drivers

You can download  printer drivers from Epson.

Installing the Device Drivers for Windows

To obtain the latest Device Drivers from Epson:

  1. Download and Install Epson’s drivers  available from www.epson.com

  2. Select the printer model under the menu

  3. Click the download drivers on the printer page

Self-Test

After  printer setup or when the printer is not operating correctly, you can check the printer operation
with test printing. If the printer performs pattern printing following the steps below, the printer is operating
normally.

Test Printing on Roll Paper
Make sure all the covers are closed, and while pressing the Feed button, turn on the printer. After the
printer prints its status and the Paper LED flashes, press the Feed button again to restart the test printing.

Test Printing on Slip Paper
Make sure all the covers are closed, and while pressing the Release button, turn on the printer. After the Slip
LED flashes, insert the slip paper. If your printer is equipped with the endorsement printer, the printer
prints both sides of the paper.
